Who am I

Hello there! Welcome to my blog, Musings. My name is David and I am a grade ten student at De La Salle College in Toronto. This is a blog of reflections and “musings,” usually relating to media arts.

I have always had an interest in art. When I think back to JK, the only class that I can remember anything from is art class. This is probably because in art, you must access your feelings and inner thoughts, and harness them with some media, which is a profound experience. To me, art is a way to take what is inside of you- your imagination, feelings, ideas, abstract thoughts- and communicate them to others through the senses. This is also probably why I love to read: when you read a book, you are looking into the author’s mind and experiencing their imagination. Author Steven King even wrote that he believes writing and reading is like telepathy.

I believe art is also like telepathy in the same way: when you look at someone’s art piece, you are seeing a representation of what is in their mind. In other words, you are communicating with them without words. This love of art is why I have decided to take media arts. I want to expand my horizons and explore new medias and ways to express myself and my personality through technology.

Some of my other hobbies and interests are reading, playing hockey, cubing, and playing board games. If I am not doing school work, I am usually reading or practicing cubing to get a better time. I am a bit of a perfectionist and I try to master everything I do. My favorite genre of books is fantasy, especially books with a lot of lore, fictional languages, and massive worlds. For example, I really love the inheritance cycle by Christopher Paolini and The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien.

Thank you for joining me on my journey throughout this year. I hope you enjoy reading and commenting on my blog as much as I did making it!
